Walking in the Rain
You aren't made of sugar and you won't melt in the rain - in fact, you are drip-dry. With the right gear, you won't even get wet. Yes, you need to avoid walking in gully-washers that threaten to sweep you into the storm drains. But you can go walking and singing in the rain. Or - find a rain-avoidance route in a mall or on a treadmill.

Artificial Sweeteners
You may have received a scary email going around about aspartame, or visited web sites blaming artificial sweeteners for everything from cancer to ingrown toenails. However, a study by MIT published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 1998 showed that even large doses of aspartame had no effect on in mood, memory, behavior, EEGs or physiology. If you are trying to reduce calories and you drink two or more sweetened soft drinks a day, switching to diet versions can save you a significant number of calories. But experts remind you that for sweetening your coffee, etc. that sugar only has 14 calories per teaspoon, and most people only need a little. The sugar in your coffee or tea isn't going to make a big difference in your daily calorie intake until you get up to 10 teaspoons a day.
